The current rating of a capacitor is the maximum current
which will either cause tolerable internal heating (common for large
ceramic or mica capacitors intended for RF power applications), or
will not fuse the internal leads or do damage due to mechanical stress.
Electrolytic filter capacitors have similar heating-limited
current ratings. As with the RF capacitors, these are a function of
frequency which affects the internal resistance.
