Hello all.
I am new to this list an am awaiting parts on my first tesla coil. I am
new to building them but not to their theory. Anyhow, I was curious
about a couple of items. When I build this, a friend has donated part
of his shop for me to experiment in. I was wondering about saftey
factors regarding things like overhead lights, electrical conduit
ect... If the conduit gets hit will it cause a problem (like fire)?
Will the fields generated by the coil disturb the electrical in the
building (fluctuating lights, TV interference ect...) If so, is there a
way to protect the circuits in the building from this?
What size secondary would give the best spark output for my powersource.
I have some ideas on this, but was curious as to what people with
practical experience thought on this matter.
The power source will be a 15kv 30mA neon and I haven't sat down and
figured out the rest yet.
Also, does anyone know where to get some HV wire and a used variac?
Any info will be much appriciated on these or any matter.
Tom
