I can sympathize, I have been searching for the parts to make a 
small Neon Transformer powered 4" secondary coil.  So far I have 
my polyethelyne coil form and some brass bolts and angles for spark 
gaps.  I still need the transformer, caps, wire for the secondary, 
and primary. 

I did find some ceramic stand off insulators torroid coils at a local 
elec. surplus store.  I also got some electric fence insulators which 
may make good supports for the primary circuit parts at a hardware store.

Mouser Electronics has a webpage and a good catalog with some of the 
parts you will need including ceramic standoffs. They only sell Magnet 
wire in 1# and 8# spools though. 

I am still looking for a cheap (or free) neon transformer any ideas?
