If you space your turns approx. 3/8 inch you can use a small alligator clip
(be sure it's copper) to make the attach point. Scrape the # 12 AWG about
1/2 inch long and then stagger each scrape so that each turn has its scrape
(attach point) about 1 1/2 inch away from the previous turn as you go
outward. Slots can easily be cut into some thin wood material to support
the # 12 AWG.
