Scott,
One thought: tubes are robust! Their MTBF may be lower than
transistors, but they will handle an over voltage condition that will
send a transistor as a bight blue plasma out to the stratosphere.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with that series of Oscopes, I jumped from a
1940's Heathkit to a 1980's tek 465.
