Reducing the number of turns and adding a larger capacitor kills
the tank circuit efficiency. I very rarely operate with less than
eight full turns out on the primary. Three to four turns are way
too few for efficient tank circuit operation.
Solution: add a larger toroid. This will reduce the resonate
freq. of the secondary and allow you to add those lost turns back
into your primary coil.
