1. I was getting discharges from my main terminal to my
primary, to my primary-adjustment-clip wire, to my RFI bypass cap and
to the air blast from my spark gap! Oh and an occasional corona over
to my main cap!
2. Tonight I added in 2 9K 100W adjustable resistors in
series with the RFI chokes, that stopped the chokes from arcing!
I then had to lower everything. It was getting with arcs from my
discharge terminal.
When I moved the tap on the resistors to about 1/4 (2.25Kohms) and
turned on the coil I had an air discharge stop about 1' in front of my
face! I was sitting 5' from the edge of the toroid /\/\/\/\/ zap! That
portion of the resistor is getting to about 100C, so it's
I'm going to have to build a table with a shelf for the components sit
on below the primary to protect them.
I'm going to have to build a garage with a larger floor to protect
me:)
