Steve,
The CT s that you are looking for are the modified Rogowski type and are
never seen at common hamfests, I have looked for years. These are custom
items and new costs on the good ones are $1000.00 or so. I make up my own
Rowgowski type transformers, but they must be calibrated for the narrow
frequency range they will be used in. The modified units are special and
have excellent bandpass and linearity over a fairly broad range. (10hz to
10Mhz).
The type you might have been refering to are the power 60hz types. These
will not measure primary tank current, but will measure your power
transfomer currents to a limited degree. The iron type CT s are not capable
of following spikes beyond 400hz with good results and rely on fairly
sinusoidial waveforms for accuracy. The tesla power transformers rarely
pull a pure sinusodial load off the line due to the spike like capacitor
loading.
