RE: Vertical Stacked Capacitor

"Animal grade"?
Is that 15 X .006" = .090" of poly between each plate?
How thick is this capacitor?
Any special preparation to the aluminum edges?

|
|A Vertical Stacked Plate Capacitor.
|
|Total Capacitance: 0.027 uF
|
|Plates: 56 - 13"x8" Rounded Aluminum Flashing
|
|Dielectric: 15 - 6 mil polyethylene bonded with mineral oil
| between each plate.
|
|Sections: The capacitor was constructed in three seperate
| sections, 0.01 uF per the first two sections. With
| the last section measure at 0.007 uF. Each plate
| was measured at 482.5 pF, therefore 21 plates for
| each 0.01 uF section. Plastic covered compressed
| particle board (commonly used in shelving)was used
| to divide the sections. The shelves, polyethylene and
| plates where compressed using two 1/4" threaded rods,
| with lock nuts.
|
|Container: The container is a simple rubber maid laundry container
| that was chosen to enclose the above assembly. The
| container holds three gallons of Animal grade mineral
| oil.
|
|Electrical connections: AWG 4 wire, with all plates compressed
| at the corners for electrical connection. All plate
| corners where rounded.
|
|Breakin: Unknown. Its been three weeks and the air is still
| coming out.
