Re: Vertical Stacked Capacitor

Thanks. Sounds like a nice capacitor.

|Barry,
| I'll try and answer your questions.

|> "Animal grade"?
|I use Animal grade Mineral oil, a laxative for farm animals. I got it
|at our local farm CO-OP. It was cheap for mineral oil, $25 US for
|five US gallons.
|
|> Is that 15 X .006" = .090" of poly between each plate?
|Yes thats correct.
|
|> How thick is this capacitor?
|Each stack of 21 metal sheets, measures out to 1 7/8". Throw in
|the four compressed particle boards, used as spacers and compression
|aids, and its overall thickness is about 8".
|
|> Any special preparation to the aluminum edges?
|I rounded the corners with a silver dollar and metal shears. And then
|used a file and sand paper to smooth the edges. I then washed the
|plates in hot soapy water and coated all of them in mineral oil
|before stacking them.
