Yes, we have used the vacuum method on a number of caps and it works fine.
We have several vacuum pumps in our group. A lot of folks do not have a
vacuum pump though. I believe it was Richard Quick or someone who used the
vacuum from a running car's intake to pump down his caps. A very neat idea
from an inventive coiler.
