Dan:

You have not given much information. More info would yield a better answer.

The operating frequency of the coil should not be a problem (within reason ~
100khz).

The break rate for the SISG would be a big issue.
You need to have a power supply (impedance) and tank cap combination that
gives a break rate around 120 BPS for optimal operation. This forces the
secondary and resonant frequency to some extent.

For Primary Current you can use the following formula:

Ip = (Vpk volts)*(Tank Cap nF)*(10^-9)*2*Pi*(ResFreq Hz)

This formula is good for any coil(I think).
The current should not be a concern unless it is getting toward 600 amps.
NO one has reported blowing an SISG - Except when Terry hooked it up to a
huge capacitor bank (like 5 mF) and blasted it, but that was not a Tesla
Coil. (Note: That's 5 mF or .05F not 5 uF) I think we figured 10 or 20
Joules. It was last year and I citing from memory.
Regards.

Mark

Subject: SISG Coil question...

Hello,
Does the operating frequency of a Tesla-coil system using a SISG matter?
Is there a frequency that's too low or too high?

Is it possible to over-current a SISG?
How do I calculate current through a SISG?

Thanks,
Dan K.
