Richard,
In the case of an over-coupled coil, why is it that sparks race up and down
the secondary?  It seems that if the sec was better insulated, then more
voltage is better.  I've never seen this effect with my coil, as the highest
coupling that I can get without massive rework is only 0.12.  I'd like to 
try to increase the coupling, as the 4-gap rotary usually quenches after the
first beat (~90uS duration) if the streamers are fully extended.
