    For a gap I'd recommend a plain RQ static gap.  No need for a
sync rotary with only 9/30 (though if you've got the stuff, it
certainly wouldn't hurt to use one!)  :)  For protection and
whatnot, search the archives.  It's not recommended to use choke
coils, as they may resonate at the tank frequency and *induce* HV
spikes into the nst...
  Some people run no protection and have no problems, others go
through NST's like candy... my advice...get as many as you can
grab.  I've got almost an even dozen, and am always on the lookout
for more. :)  They will eventually die, and it's nice to have a
replacement handy.  Plus the spares make great Jacob's Ladders :)
