Hi all,

That is correct. I have a fair sized x-ray power transformer that was 
originally
rectified via a full-wave bridge rectifier for HV DC output. Each of the four 
diode
strings consisited of about a dozen individual diodes in series with no 
resist-
ors or capacitors paralleled with them. This setup could withstand tremendous
voltages, but I found out (from experience) that they couldn't handle much 
cur-
rent :-(
