question about SG

hi,
I was using WinTesla to figure my gap width for a RQ/TCBOR style gap and it
states that I should space
my gaps a .1339in.(8 gaps) for a 9kV 30mA input....
but this would give me a overall gap width of 1.0712in.
Does this seem a little large or is it just me??
