John, all,

Try an HVAC place.  I got my 1/3HP induction start-induction run motor from a
friend's furnace.  Neither of us know why it was replaced, but it was free to
me, and he was more than eager to donate it to such a worthwhile experiment.  I
would image that these places would have a few new and used ones.
