Several decades ago while investigating mutual inductance, I built a
great many coils using various coil geometries. In your case, when
estimating the coupling between the primary and secondary, be aware that
most of the trumpet coil inductance will exist in the first several
turns of the coil, since inductance depends on the coil radius squared.
That should be kept in mind when determining the primary coil
placement. The mutual inductance between the primary and secondary will
strongly depend on the proximity of the primary with the first several
turns of the trumpet coil, where most of inductance resides.
