[TCML] Fine Structure in a Trumpet Coil



As some of you know, I have been developing a new system of physical units
associated with an alternative theoretical framework. I now have a proposed
Tesla-coil experiment that provides a fairly direct empirical test of one
of its key predictions.

The basic idea is to construct a Tesla resonator whose geometry is
deliberately varied along its length—a "trumpet" coil—and determine whether
its measured resonant behavior follows the predicted geometric phase
accumulation. Of particular interest is whether the experiment produces the
relationship associated with the fine-structure constant. A positive result
would support an important element of the theory; a clear negative result
under appropriate experimental conditions would count against it. Either
result would be scientifically useful.

I think this is exactly the sort of question that should ultimately be
settled experimentally. A theoretical proposal should not be accepted
merely because its mathematics is interesting, nor rejected merely because
its premises are unconventional. If it makes a sufficiently definite
prediction, build the apparatus, make the measurements, and see what nature
says.

Years ago, I was able to do a great deal of this experimental work myself.
I built more than 25 different Tesla secondary coils, including solenoids,
flat spirals, and combinations of the two. Much of my present theoretical
work grew out of observations made during those experiments. Unfortunately,
I am no longer physically able to build and test coils as I once did.

There is also a personal reason I would particularly like to see someone
undertake this experiment. I was recently diagnosed with a 100% occlusion
of my right carotid artery near the base of the brain and am undergoing
aggressive therapy to address it. I mention this not to solicit sympathy,
but because it has given the question some urgency for me. I hope to have
many more productive years ahead, but none of us knows how much time we
have. I would very much like to learn whether this particular prediction
survives a serious experimental test.

If anyone on Pupman finds the experiment interesting and has the equipment
and inclination to investigate it, I would be glad to answer questions
about the proposed geometry, measurements, or underlying calculations as
much as I am able.
