Re: [TCML] Is this still correct, javatc

Thank you Bart, do know the pros and cons of resonant charging. Just my old
brain is full and can only absorbed so much per year. :) That is a good tip,
to click the text on javatc, I often overlooked that. But that is where I
started.

Hi Shaun,

Javatc stated what the resonant cap size is for a 15/30 NST. _This is
not a recommendation_. Javatc gives you the resonant cap size and also
the LTR cap sizes for SG and SRSG.

As stated in Javatc (should you click the linked text for that item) you
would find Javatc says: "There are pros and cons to using a primary tank
capacitor which is resonant with the transformer. When used, a resonant
charging effect occurs. This resonant charging effect is in the form of
a higher than normal current which charges the cap to a higher voltage
(assuming the spark gap fires at a consistent rate). Although this looks
desirable, beware that a resonant charging condition will cause the
output voltage to rise substantially and may over-volt the transformer
and/or tank cap. The charge and discharge sequence is controlled by the
spark gap. If the gap can be designed to conduct at the same rate and
same point along the AC half-cycle, resonant charging can be beneficial."

I'm not sure what all the srsg guys are doing these days, but I would go
with an LTR size cap (typically 1.5 to 2 times resonant size).

Respectfully,
Bart
