I found a scrapyard that had a big pile of golf kart battery chargers. I
got four for a couple dollars each.
They were all identical and were E I lamenations. The I was tack welded to
the E. I ground out the tacks and pulled the winding out. Once I knew hiw
to do it without damaging the linations I cut the other three apart. I used
three cores to wind a ballast for my 10 kva pole transformer.
