I've never had a pole transformer core pulled apart, and was always under the impression that these could not be disassembled and then reassembled due to the way they were constructed. Will need to find some web video or document on what it takes to do this. The windings were set up so half the low voltage winding was on the outside then a 7200 volt winding. Next was another 7200 volt winding. Then finally the inside was the other half of the low voltage winding. The core had two sides of laminations wrapped through it. Each one was smaller than the one before it so I had to lay them out in order so they could be put back the same way. One of the 7200 volt windings was shot so I pulled the wire out from the side until all the windings could be separated. I rewound the damaged one and wrapped each layer in nomex paper. Probably better than it was. I went too far with the number of turns. Came out with 16.5 kV when I tested it. I think it was about 4 volts per turn. I ran my medium size coil with it and it held up fine. I have a few videos of it running at D.C.s show in Baraboo Wi. back about 2010 on my Facebook page if interested. I was using a pulse capacitor on a Jacob’s ladder on a 25kva pole transformer when the arc stopped I shut everything down immediately hooked up just the Jacob’s ladder and nothing... it’s pulling 58 amps and not putting anything out. When it was at full arc with no capacitor it always pulled 80 amps... I popped the top and noticed a small amount of black haze in the oil. So obviously something burned up... gonna drain it this weekend and pull the core out hopefully it’s not anything insane I spent allot of money on this transformer and it was brand new never used. Guess that’s the name of the game though you blow crap up lol > > Sent from my iPhone > _______________________________________________ > Tesla mailing list > Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > https://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla This email and any attachments are for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential information.
