Here's what I do: I get a stick about 20 inches long, a dowel or
something really thin like a blackboard pointer. I wrap some magnet wire
around one end, maybe 6 or 7 turns and let a few inches point off in the
direction of the stick. The magnet wire is about 2 feet long and I
scrape the other end and attach it to the case of the nst which is
ground. I apply power and guide the tip of the wire to each terminal. I
can tell by the sound and the flame if the nst is good.
