Re: [TCML] Natural gum rubber strip for VDG

Hi Matt; On this machine the top roller is acrylic and the bottom roller is also acrylic but with aluminum tape on it. I have not used latex for belts. I have been having good luck with neoprene belts up to 1/8" thick and that also works well. I have also found that a 18" belt works nearly as well as a 36" belt on my machines. I run all three of my VDG's with those little sewing machine motors with no problems .

Thanks Doug, how does this compare to latex and what roller material do you use?

For those interested in VanDeGraaff generators, I finally found a source for cheap natural gum rubber strip for belts. It glues very well with rubber adhesive. I purchased 2- 1/16” x 2” x 36” strips
[$1.79 each] for a 36” belt and am getting excellent results with it.
