Ok, the diodes came in today. (See also: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6iVBGaz57fSLXJWLXRMZG5kWXM/view?usp=sharin g ) They are an OnSemiconductor MBR735, which handles up to 35v @ 7.5a (spec pdf available on request). Hopefully, it will improve on operation. Admittedly, they are a bit of overkill for the application, but I'd rather a diode be too big, than too small. In the morning, I will add one to the ignition coil driver circuit I previously wrote about and constructed without the diode.
