Richard Hull's TC used a single hydrogen thyratron which was was set to conduct for 1/2 of an RF cycle. It was a magnifier TC design with tight driver coupling, but 1/2 of an RF cycle was not really enough to give full power transfer so this held back its performance. He was considering building a design with back to back thyratrons but never actually built it. I think he submitted an article describing the TC to the TCBA Newsletter. This can probably be found at Tesla Universe. https://teslauniverse.com/resources/builders/tcba-newsletter John -----Original Message----- From: jimlux <jimlux@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: tesla <tesla@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Mon, Feb 15, 2016 8:04 am Subject: Re: [TCML] Marx On 2/13/16 9:31 PM, homerlea--- via Tesla wrote: > > Does anyone know if I can power a Tesla coil using thyratrons to > pulse power from a 20 kvdc power supply/ I just scored some 25 kv > thyratrons. I believe that Richard Hull may have built a TC with thyratrons. _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
