I bought a Superior Electric drive motor for mine on eBay. It's a nice unit that allows several means to control it, but it comes with all the electronics built in. I bought a joystick to control it up or down and use a pot to control the speed. It sounds like a stepper motor. I have a single shaft for my two 1256s and drive motor. I have a 3 stack Volt-Pac, and it has a single shaft with a DC motor. All it has are two limit switches, so you'd need to build a controller for it. As to shaft, I'd think either way would work. ________________________________ From: Jim Mora <wavetuner@xxxxxxxxx> To: 'Tesla Coil Mailing List' <tesla@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, July 2, 2014 8:10 PM Subject: [TCML] 3 phase Telsa coil, Raytheon donar supply, triple stacking 1256D The schematic of (3) 1296's (I guess are very similar) shows a triple wye arrangement without balancing coils which makes sense. So my question now to the group, this early on is: how are the shafts joined? - by collars or do I need a new shaft, and I would very much like to acquire a Powerstat 1256D type stack drive motor. Thanks all, Jim Mora _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
