Hi Carlos, It is difficult to be sure without the data sheet, but most of the caps of that style that I have seen over the last 50 years or so have been for DC pulsing and don't handle massive voltage reversals such as are seen in TC service very well. The fact that the series inductance is not mentioned is also a clue against RF service, but one really needs a data sheet to be sure. Does anybody know a cheapish sorce for a tank capacitor bank that would be up to the task? I see on Surplus sales Nebraska they have a number of Aerovox pulse caps rated 50kv 0.307uf. http://www.surplussales.com/Capacitors/MaxwellList.html SX359E5 Aerovox quick discharge pulse capacitor. No PCBs. Single ended. Body is capacitor ground. Removed from service. Very clean. • 0.307 µF @ 50 kv • 684 Joules • Dimensions: 6" x 12" x 19", 27" overall height with insulator • Mounting Plate: 6" x 16" • Mounting Holes: 4" x 14" c-c • Weight: 78 lbs They don't have any further technical info, and Aerovox don't reply... Does anybody know as to the suitability of these caps...? They appear to be low inductance, but will they handle the pulse rate...? Thanks, carlos _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
