Hello Kuba, Sounds as if the coil is over coupled, hence the racing sparks. Raise the secondary so that the bottom turn is about 1/2" above the top of the primary as a start and experiment till you just avoid the onset of racing sparks. JAVATC will help in deducing this and it's probably better to err on slightly looser coupling (k) than higher. Good luck. Phillip. _____________________________________________________________________________ 14 Broad Street, Stamford, Lincs PE9 1PG Tel: 01780 753008 On Monday, 7 April 2014, 4:51, Kuba Anglin <kubaanglin@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi, Today I just finished my first Tesla coil and tested it. The spark gap was firing perfectly, but there were no sparks being emitted from the toroid. I retried adjusting the primary coil tap and the spark gap length until I saw sparks. However, these sparks came out of the bottom of the secondary coil, arcing up about several inches before disappearing. The toroid emitted no sparks. I don't know what to do. Below are some images of my new coil. http://s23.postimg.org/tm1xzbll7/Tesla_Coil_Pic_1.jpg http://s12.postimg.org/urt4j5dfx/Tesla_Coil_Pic_2.jpg Thanks, Kuba Anglin _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla _______________________________________________ Tesla mailing list Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx http://www.pupman.com/mailman/listinfo/tesla
