Thanks for the tip Ted, that's definitely a good option! I know I could have sourced them more economically but it was a much about time and convenience as anything. $240 for a 6-10kW capable supply delivered to my door was still much cheaper than the $1500 EACH I was quoted for three custom transformers! And something about them all being completely identical appeals to my OCD side. My only concern is that they are too cheaply made as they tend to warm up quite quickly with no load attached. However, I can pull an arc out to over a foot from two of them in series so I'm confident that I should be able to get a lazy 6kW from six of them. I did some fiddling with a charging reactor yesterday.  It looks like I'm going to have to use mots too. Fortunately I have about 10 MOTs that I obtained 15 years ago using exactly the method you describe. Are you using a charging reactor on both legs of the supply or just one? I was thinking that using one on both legs may act as a bit of an RF choke and protect the diodes and transformers.  Any thoughts? I'll upload some more coil details to my blog over the coming days. Sent from my mobile. -------- Original message -------- From: Tesla <tesla@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date:26/11/2013 6:27 AM (GMT+10:00) To: Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [TCML] DC Coil progress. and getting MOT's Getting MOT's (Because I was amazed you needed to purchase new ones for the tranny's) I've found white-ware and brown-ware repair shops have lots of MWO not economic to repair and they store them for a tip or disposals run in batches. They are often happy to let a person have them at scrap value to get them off their hands. I had to show I was aware of the various safety issues (HV, magnets, toxicity etc. ) and would not place any items on the net for sale or repair the ovens. Got about 30 in one go (a lifetime supply lol) even in a small town like Wellington Best ted -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: Greg Peters Sent: Thursday, November 21, 2013 4:52 PM To: Tesla@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: [TCML] DC Coil progress.
