I like this design for a one MOT Coil, modify to use two gapped (0.3mm)  MOT 
secondary's in series for the ring up

I've made this and achieve results similar to Mike and "scopboy" Steve 
Connor

Table top size is possible and it runs about  1kw with 600 to 800 mm 
streamers

Hi All,
I am thinking of building a small table-top coil that uses a single MOT for 
the power supply.
I could use an NST but I am trying to take up as little space as possible in 
my tiny apartment.
Does anyone have any idea how I might go about designing this type of power 
supply?
