Re: [TCML] Induction demonstration

I was thinking about actually showing people right before their very eyes how just rolling up an energized ball of wire would have an affect on an electrical circuit.

I run my TC transformer thru a 500ft coil of #12 so I understand what you
want. Do you have any smaller gage wire? You could make a small coil around
a bolt and move the bolt in and out. My inductor is controlled by a handful
of steel wire (elec fence wire) that is wrapped and moveable thru the roll
of 12ga.

Subject: [TCML] Induction demonstration

Hello,

I am putting my Tesla Coil in a makers fair next weekend. I would like to
make some simple demonstrations of induction and capacitance using 60hz AC
power. For example taking a 100' ball of #12 THHN and powering a light bulb
and while bulb is still energized unroll the ball of wire and show how the
light bulb becomes brighter. I don't think it will become brighter because I
believe the ball of wire will only delay the time it takes to light the
bulb. It will not prevent the bulb from burning at full capacity. However
this is along the lines of what I am thinking about. Does anyone have any
suggestions that they would not mind sharing?

Thanks,

Jim
