Maybe there is another coiler in your area that could visit you and look it over. Where are you located?
Do you have access to an oscilloscope and signal generator? It would be good to check the as built frequency of the secondary then set the primary to match that frequency plus about 5%. That would insure you are tuned close to optimal and not on one of the resonant frequencies...
If you don't have access to the test equipment a local ham radio club usually has someone more than willing to bring their gear over and help out. In fact they love a new challenge especially on old technology and it gives them something to talk about on the radio....

I refer to my problem as described in

I followed the recommendations by various posters,
- I re-built the spark gap, same result.
- I made various new capacitors, same result.
- I added a second 12 KV 30 ma NST in parallel, same result.
- I re-wired all connections with 10 gauge, same result.
The only part left untouched now is the secondary coil. Is it
possible that there is a short circuited winding? Would that be
consistent with the problems I experience?
How would I find the location of the short? I inspected it visually
but can't find anything odd. What would I look for? would it get
warm at the fault after prolonged running?
