Unless you plan on using it for hours non-stop, you can easily use one at twice the nameplate rating, especially if you fan cool it. I'm driving a set of 1256Ds, which are rated at 28 amps each, at over 100 amps. The brushes should be inspected before doing this, but heat is the only thing to worry about.

I have a 180 to 250 VAC 5.5 KVA 24 Amp one. Unfortunately you are looking for one twice that size.

ariac, or perhaps a slide choke of there about.
