[TCML] RMS current equation
Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone worked out an equation for and RMS current type value in the tank circuit that factors in BPS and instantaneous peak current.
I figure that it would be something like Irms=(Ipeak/sqrt(2))*a
Where "a" is some length of gap conduction time per second, or duty cycle.
So a gap operating at any bps, but 120bps for this example then it would have 120 pulse cycles and 120 quench cycles. So making a inaccurate assumption that could be calculated better I am sure. One could say that in 1 second the gap is not conducting for half the time. making "a" a value of 1/2. But probably much less I am aware.
But it is also true that the current and voltage decrease some what linearly during that brief period of gap conduction per pulse sequence. So one could further reduce "a" by another 1/2. making "a" 1/4. Yet again I am sure that this could be calculated accurately .
so Irms=(Ipeak/sqrt(2))*0.25
Thats my guess anyway, any one have any ideas?
Thanks,
John "Jay" Howson IV
"Why thank you, I will be happy to take those electrons off you hands."
