I said that and it stands. Your assertion that a TC might generate
ions that can pass through walls to trigger smoke detectors in a
neighbors' apartment is wrong. Ions are simply charged particles of
*mass* - atoms or molecules. Mass cannot be made to pass through
matter simply by charging/ionizing it. My point to wrapping the
detector in the plastic bag was to exclude the possibility of
ozone/NOx gasses from affecting the detector - one of the proposed
mechanisms that might trigger a detector suggested earlier in this
thread.
