I believe it is a purely a property of geometry, but i am unsure. 

Go check out java TC, it can do conical coils, both primary and secondary. 
But it appears that the self capacitance equation is not listed in the text about self capacitance. (Maybe Bart could elaborate on how his program is calculating it)
