[TCML] Types of sstc's

I'm trying to understand the differences of the ss type drivers. What does the waveform look like at the driver going to the primary. Are there a couple of different styles? Is on style replacing the spark gap by sending  pulses to the coil and is the other a continuous or modulated wave to the primary ? Please explain or send me a link. Trying to educate myself on this.
