RE: [TCML] wrapping caution tape around the secondary
James,
Personally, it sounds like bad idea to me. I have put tape around the lower
end where the main secondary coil ends, and the lead off winds off in a
cork-screw fashion, but that only covers about a quarter of inch onto the
main body of the secondary itself.
Anymore and if I did get the start of racing sparks I may not be able to
tell until it is too late. In addition, of course any tape that may well be
an insulator at 240 volts, may behave differently at 300,000 volts and
upwards.
At the end of the day, we want streamers, and if the coil looks nice as well
then it's a bonus I suppose.

Subject: [TCML] wrapping caution tape around the secondary
Hello, I had some trouble coating the secondary with varnish.Im sure it will
still operate fine once the coil is done, but it looks bad with bumps all
over the coil.It looks really sloppy.
I was wondering what would happen if i used adhesive spray
(http://www.realsimple.com/home-organizing/home-improvement/maintenance-repa
irs/best-glue-10000001683150/page3.html)and then wrapped the coil with
caution tape.I thought this might hide the bad looking varnish job on the
coil and make it look pretty cool. Will this effect the coils output at
all?thanks james
