[TCML] Grid driven VTTC

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if any one has had experience removing the feedback winding from an oscillator and driving a VTTC from the grid, with an RF IC circuit with PWM...?
(for example, a circuit that generates the resonant RF frequency of the secondary and has some duty cycle control to produce the RF in bursts... and apply this to the grid directly).


Any advantages or disadvantages over cathode pulsing...?
