The several texts that appeared about this, without a demonstration, apparently, mention something as 50 kV at a few kHz at a power of 600 W. A Tesla coil would result in excessive frequency and voltage. Normal AC flyback transformers and normal ignition coils don't reach so high voltage or power. A specially built flyback transformer may work. Effects of electricity on fire are well known, but this may be one of these cases where nobody tried to see what happens at that unusual range of parameters.
