Altho your links don't work I know exactly what you are talking about.I 
bought one about 6 years ago and haven't had any problems yet with.It is not 
a powerstat ,not nearly as smooth. The shaft bearings that run the wiper are 
as loose as the proverbial goose. Hey but what the heck it works just don't 
expect quality..Hopes this helps ...Binny
