RE: [TCML] New coil and first light
Hi Phil
Thanks. The primary clamp dimensions are .500 x .400 x 1.25. Its works well,
no slipping.

Hello Craig,
That is a very nice, well thought out, and constructed coil. You may be
better with a breakout point when using the ducting for the toroid, as the
slightest dent seems or rough surface to bleed HV off.
I think I will have to copy your primary clamp design. It is similar to mine
in its action, but far more reliable and easier to adjust than mine I would
imagine.
Regards
Phil

After months of construction, I have my new coil built and working. 36"
strikes on first light! Many thanks to all the people on the TCML for all
the posts from which I received great ideas and valuable information. A
special mention for JavaTC. Great program and, in my mind, indispensible for
designing a coil.
I built my first coil around 1995, without the aid of the internet. It
worked OK, and I fired it up from time to time until this year. I finally
got the urge to build a bigger and better one. See the link below for
pictures.
