Hi Phil,

the last days I have built a new ballast inductor with adjustable air gap. 
Now I am ready to apply Richie Burnetts Resonant charging design to my new 
teslacoil. My calculations tell me, the ballast inductor has to be set @ 
30mH.

The question is about setting the 30mH: Do I have to set the 30mH without 
the HV - transformers connected (10kV PT's) or with the PT's connected in 
series to the inductor? I am not sure about this, because the current, which 
flows through the inductor without the PTs connected, is higher than with 
the PTs connected. So should I go the normal way and simply put a voltage to 
my inductor without the PTs connected and measure U and I and then set the 
inductance with L=U/2*pi*50Hz*I ?
