Three 500W/120V bulbs in series - not much more one can say.  I think the
use of halogen bulbs for a TC dummy load was an original idea of mine.  I
did build a fixture to hold the 3 bulbs securely - a simple plywood base,
and scrap steel strips to hold the bulbs.  The bulbs DO generate a lot of
heat and light so I taped a piece of Al foil beneath the bulbs with kapton
tape to reflect the radiation - just make sure it is far enough away from
the electrical connections to avoid arcing.  I just uploaded a photo onto

I can't say that I'm proud of the plywood construction for a HV device, but
it worked for me.  Just be careful what you place it on (so the wood screws
don't short to something underneath).
