[TCML] rotary drum spark gap?

Hey Guys,
	Whist perusing Tesla's lab notes I found mention of a spark gap that 
consisted of a rotating cylinder, does anybody use these, have they ever 
been used, is there any advantage/disadvantage, etc.  Probably not as 
useful as a conventional rotary but I imagine it would be a decent 
"static" spark gap.
