[TCML] SRSG talk continued... If you build SRSG's, this is a must see!
Well first off I finally found a few answers to my own questions online.
Yes, an 60, 1200, or 1800 (etc) rpm motor is called synchronous because
of its rpm value, but... there are other traits, a sub category if you
will of synchronous motors. This is so stupid, because I feel everybody
has been trying to tell me this... :-[ The sailent pole is a type of
sync motor that will always lock phase in the same position regardless
how and when power is applied. I knew all this. I think it was just a
matter of sorting out what was what and why the motor behaved this way.
Essentially, it sounds like a hysteresis sync motor is one which
operates very quietly and in perfect sync with AC waveform but starts up
in a random position each time where as the salient pole sync motor
concentrates the flux lines through the armature allowing the motor to
maintain a position with respect to its stator when power is applied,
but it does so sacrificing added noise, and vibration.
Ok sorry, now for the website everyone MUST visit:

Not sure how much these babies will cost but its worth a phone call next
week.
