Now I *need* to plate my primary with gold. The colour must be great.
Frank, I'd love to have your nickel plating recipe. If anyone has a gold
plating recipe, I'd be interested as well

Many thanks

Thomas

If you live in a biggish city, you can probably find a plating place that will do it for you. They'll potentially do a better job with their better process controls, bigger tanks, and lots of experience.

OTOH, if you're in it for the "hand built adventure", give the Lindsay Books website a spin.. gotta be more than one book on home electroplating there. http://www.lindsaybks.com/ or maybe even more specifically http://www.lindsaybks.com/bks8/platers/index.html

but heck, you need to get a catalog from these guys. You'll be smelting copper in your backyard cupola furnace, then machinining it on the tools you built with castings from scrap metal scrounged at the curb. Now! something to do with the rest of the microwave oven you scrounged the transformer from: melt the steel down and make your own transformer laminations.

I long to be independently wealthy, with a few acres of work space, a big pole barn/shed, and some trained assistants, so I can do all the nifty stuff.. (Igor, activate the bellows! Igor, energize the primary!) But darn it all, gotta spend my time doing useful work.
