RE: [TCML] transformer placement



I once performed an experiment to determine how primary losses were impacted by proximity to metal objects.  I posted the results to the List and it's archived at http://www.pupman.com/listarchives/2000/November/msg00359.html

The bottom line is that the presence of NST's about a foot below the primary resulted in only a small increase in losses.  I didn't try it with a pig, but typically, pigs are bulky enough that they need to be cabled off to the side, just so that you don't have an awkwardly tall structure.
