Your point is invalid.  Not all Tesla Coils work this way.

But the mains is NOT 10's of kilohertz its 50hz or 60hz.

Yes, in fact there are several types of coils that do not charge and
discharge a capacitor.  DRSSTC, VTTC, and SSTC all meet this requirement.
I'm sure you'll have a hard time convincing people that these types of coils
are "just transformers" and not Tesla Coils.
